Summary
Drift is a one-person podcast stream app. It collects the bare
minimum needed to play episodes and improve the product —
anonymous usage analytics, and (if you sign up) your email. No
advertising, no cross-app tracking, no data sale.
What Drift collects
- Anonymous usage analytics. When an episode
starts, completes, or is skipped, Drift sends an event with
the episode's title, show name, and a generated session
identifier to PostHog (EU cloud). No name, email, or device
identifier is attached.
- Email address. Only collected if you submit
one via an alpha-signup or show-suggestion form. Used to
contact you about the alpha and (where applicable) to follow
up on your suggestion.
- Show suggestions. What you submit via the
"Suggest a show" form, stored to evaluate for the catalogue.
- Voice input (iOS app only, optional). Speech
recognition is processed by Apple — on-device or via Apple's
servers, per your iOS settings. Drift never stores or
transmits the raw audio.
Third-party services
- PostHog — anonymous analytics. EU-hosted.
- Resend — stores email addresses submitted via
the alpha signup form so we can email you about the alpha.
- Vercel — hosts the Drift web infrastructure
and receives standard server access logs.
- Cloudflare R2 — serves the generated DJ-segue
audio clips. Standard CDN access logs only.
- Apple TestFlight — handles tester enrollment,
build delivery, and crash reporting under Apple's own privacy
policy.
What Drift does not do
- No advertising or ad-tracking SDKs.
-
No cross-app or cross-site tracking. Drift does not show the
iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt.
-
No data sold or shared with third parties beyond the
infrastructure providers listed above.
- No login. Drift has no user account system.
Data retention
Analytics events are retained by PostHog according to the
project's default retention. Email addresses are kept until you
ask for removal or the alpha programme ends, whichever comes
first.
Your rights
You can request deletion of your email address or any submitted
show suggestion at any time. Email
driftpodcasts@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes meaningfully, the "Last updated" date at
the top will change and (where reasonable) registered alpha
testers will be notified by email.
